Manchester Keeper Caught Blackmail Fellow Footballer Over sex Video

A goalkeeper who blackmailed a Premier League footballer over a sex video has been jailed for 20 months.

Ex-Manchester City trainee Ashley Timms, 22, demanded £15,000 from the star - who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Timms, from Manchester, made a series of threats to publish the images if he was not paid the cash.

But he was arrested and pleaded guilty to making a series of menaces and demands at Manchester Crown Court last month.

The court heard how there was a long series of text messages followed by a series of threats to the footballer, known only as Witness A.

Timms played for Manchester City's under-19 side and had spells at Altrincham, Atherton LR, Curzon Ashton, Mossley, Shrewsbury Town, Runcorn and Accrington Stanley.

He also had trials at Norwich City, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Oldham and Macclesfield.
